For most of its history, Chicago produced about one-third of the nation’s candy including Brach’s caramels, Mars' Snickers bars, Wrigley’s gum, Cracker Jack, Baby Ruth bars, Tootsie Rolls and Frango Mints. Have a favorite book that you would like to share with others? Come to the library on Saturday, February 9th, from 1:00-4:30 p.m. and we will film you talking about your favorite book. The videos will then be shown on the Library's website on Valentine's Day. Whether your book is a favorite from childhood or the latest book you are recommending, we want to hear about it. All ages are welcome, children under 18 will need a parent or guardian's consent. No registration required, just drop in.

Barb Ottolino of The Cultivated Choice will demonstrate how to create an eco-friendly and sustainable floral arrangement using  fresh flowers, a recycled container, and prunings from your own backyard. There are still openings to watch the demonstration. On the left is an example of the type of floral design you can learn about making at the workshop.

While you're here in your Princess Bride character costume, you can also participate in My Reading Valentine. Act out your favorite part in the movie and then create your own movie clip about it.
