Since the library's volunteer program began in 1979, more than 500,000 hours of service have been contributed by this special group of individuals. "Volunteers: Adding Value on Both Sides" is an article published in the December edition of the Illinois Library Association's Reporter.  Written by our Volunteer Coordinator Caryl Medsker, it highlights many of the ways our volunteers make a difference every day.

As Caryl explains, "Our volunteers have made it possible for us to become a five-star library, offering programs and services to our community that would not be possible if we were to rely on paid staff alone. They make the Arlington Heights Memorial Library a truly special place."

Chicago Tribune featured an article of three “top-shelf” Chicago suburban libraries today. Arlington Heights Memorial Library is one of three local libraries to be awarded a five-star rating for all five years that Library Journal has named Star Libraries. Five stars is the highest rating awarded. Our Executive Director Jason Kuhl states “It is a reflection of how much our community uses the library, so I think it says as much about the community as it does the library.” Thank you for making us a five-star library!
