Best Freebie in Arlington Heights
Best Freebie in Arlington Heights is the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, according to the "Best of the Best" awards in Chicago Magazine's August issue. Highlighted values are the Library's extensive DVD and foreign films collection, new best sellers, and bargain books sold for 25 cents at Friends of the Library's sales. Recently named a "5-Star" Library by Library Journal earlier this year, Arlington Heights Memorial Library is open 79 hours weekly.Home Sweet Home

Whether you grew up in Arlington Heights or came here recently, you are invited to share your memories about life, past and present, in Arlington Heights on the library’s new Home Sweet Home site. Home Sweet Home is an online pinboard created to collect pictures, videos and stories that highlight what makes our village unique and unforgettable. It will be a permanent, online destination on our website and is the library’s gift to the community to celebrate our village’s 125th anniversary.

National Senior Health and Fitness Day

The Library and other Senior Center agencies sponsored National Senior Health and Fitness Day at the Senior Center on May 27. Participants were treated to a free continental breakfast, then could choose from an array of options that included learning about health and fitness info online, a free strength training seminar, free chair massages, and blood pressure and cholesterol screenings. Ten Again: Coming of Age in Arlington Heights

Former Hersey High School teacher, Michael Bellito will discuss his fictionalized memoir, Ten Again, the poignant story of a young man’s coming of age set in Arlington Heights during the 60s.
