Internet 101: Foundations
Tuesday, March 22, 9:30–11 a.m. / Training Center
If you are interested in using the Internet and you are proficient with a computer mouse, this moderate-paced class gets you going in the right direction. You'll learn to use a Web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer - to surf the Web and to get informative, useful and fun information online. Check in at the Welcome Desk at least ten minutes before the class is scheduled to start.

Internet 102: The Next Step
Monday, March 28, 7:30–9 p.m. / Training Center
This fast-paced class is for those who have learned the basics of using the Internet and would like to sharpen their skills for finding information online. You'll use several popular search engines such as Google to find websites that suit your interests. Prerequisites: You must be able to use the mouse and have some previous experience using the Web in order to attend this class. If you haven’t used a mouse before, or you need to refresh your computer mouse skills, please sign up for Beginning Mouse Skills. If you haven’t used the Web before, or you are not sure how to use a browser to view web pages, follow links and fill in online forms, please sign up for Basic Internet Skills.

Introduction to Email

Make a half-hour appointment to set up and learn more about email, including Yahoo! mail and Gmail. Staff will help you set up an account and take you through the basics. Or, if you already have an account, they can help you manage your account, send attachments and assist you with limiting spam mail. (Unfortunately, we cannot help with MS Outlook since it is only supported on personal computers and not library computers.)

This seminar, presented by the Library's reference staff, will provide participants with an overview of how to use the Internet to find employment. Topics will include using job search engines, finding websites to search for job postings, posting resumes, finding information about a potential employer using library databases, and networking online using popular social networking websites.
