Info Services Librarian

We’re looking for a forward-thinking, energetic librarian to join our Info Services Group, which offers a blended model of service through in-person, phone, online chat, and other modes of delivery. We need someone who enjoys approaching customers and can quickly help them connect with their favorite interests and information needs. This is an exciting opportunity to provide professional peer leadership for the operations and activities of the Info Services Group, using a range of technologies to help implement services which increase and enhance access to the library’s resources.
 
Requirements: 
A good working knowledge of books, music, movies and popular culture is required to make recommendations for appropriate reading, listening and viewing materials. Prior work experience in a public library preferred. Strong presentation and writing skills, as well as working knowledge of Windows 7 are required.Prior experience in developing materials for, and delivering, one-on-on one and group instruction for customers and/or staff preferred.
Skills: 
Requires excellent research skills, with experience using online databases and Internet, to help customers readily find desired resources and materials. Must have excellent skills in greeting customers and initiating discussion about their interests.
Education: 
Minimum 5 years experience as a reference librarian.  MLS from an ALA-accredited library school or equivalent work experience required.
 
Hours and Scheduling: 
Part-time position, 22 hours per week including mornings, afternoons, evenings and every fourth weekend.
 
Salary and Benefits: 
Starting salary $21.74 to $28.00/hour, depending on qualifications.
 
Benefits include 4 weeks vacation, sick participation in IMRF pension plan and availability of Roth/457 savings plans.
