Are you looking for a terrific read? Crater by Homer Hickam might be just what you are looking for. Crater is a teen who lives on the moon, mining it for Helium-3, a perfect fuel for the time. An act of heroism gets Crater noticed and he soon finds himself on a mission that could cost him his life. The rest you will have to find out on your own. I hate to ruin a surprise.

Have you ever read a novel that's written like a poem? Sometimes the lines rhyme and sometimes they don't.. Some of my favorite books are written this way. The author seems to use less words but still tells a great story. I made a list in case you'd like to try some. Let me know if you do and what you think!

I always loved camping. Sitting around a fire listening to scary stories, eating s'mores and trying not to burn my marshmallows. On Friday, April 20th, come to the library for our version of a camping experience. Scary stories, games and a craft are all part of it along with real s'mores and a not so real campfire. The best part - no bugs! For ages 8-11.

You'll soon be able to read Harry Potter books on your e-reader! Watch for these to be available at the end of April. While you're waiting, you can browse eBooks and eAudiobooks from the library's website to find something good to read or listen to. Just point the cursor to Borrow and click on eBooks and eAudiobooks. You may like reading the title that just won the Caudill Award -  Powerless by Matthew Cody - or listening to Vespers Rising by Rick Riordan.

Did you know that floodlights were first used to illuminate night baseball games in 1929? Some baseball fans were against night games in favor of tradition. The Chicago Cubs held out for over 50 years. It wasn’t until 1988 that Wrigley Field had lights!

Learn more about America’s most beloved baseball fields in Ballpark: The Story of America’s Baseball Fields and find other baseball books here.

March is full of fun holidays. One of my favorites is "If My Pet Had Thumbs Day" which is celebrated on March 3rd. Just think of all the things your pet could do if it had thumbs, like no more wet tennis balls for starters. I know my dog would be helping himself to a lot more treats!

This year marks the 200th birthday of one of the most famous writers of all times - Charles Dickens. Dickens was an ordinary person who wrote extraordinary stories. No one tells a ghost story quite like Dickens. Even though he lived in the 1800s we still love his books today. Many of his novels are for adults but some appeal to kids too. In Kids' World we have shortened versions of his works. We also have fascinating biographies of his life. Some of the books we have feature him as a character in the story. Here's a list of books written by him and about him - but there are more. Have you ever thought about becoming a writer yourself? You may want to come to our workshops for kids held at the library. They're called Kids' Ink. Please check the newsletter for future dates.
