The Library will host two upcoming SCORE (Service Corps for Retired Executives) programs for business owners and those interested in starting their own business.
 
Wednesday, March 7 at 7:00 pm- Going into Business: Evaluate Yourself and Take the First Steps.
A representative from SCORE will present on how to assess your prospects, give you the initial direction needed and inspire you to move forward to realize your dream.

Wednesday, May 9 at 7:00 pm-Business Plans
A representative from SCORE will present on how good planning increases the odds of success. This workshop covers the essential elements of business plan development including setting goals and objectives, preparing marketing and financial plans and defining action steps to attain your goals.

There are a variety of innovative and affordable tools to help create videos you can share online and through social media. The Library's Digital Media Lab is an excellent resource for the business owner who is looking to create audio and visual projects to spotlight their business.

A recent article on the Wasp Barcode Technologies Buzz Small Business Blog highlighted 6 creative uses of QR codes by businesses.
 
Highlights include H.J. Heinz Company's Our Turn to Serve promotion where users could scan the QR code on ketchup bottles to share personal messages with American troops. The company also donated 57 cents to the Wounded Warrior Project for each message created using the QR codes.

QR codes are a fast and easy way to direct customers and clients to a website, advertisement, coupon, video, directions to your business and more. QR code is the abbreviation for Quick Response code, a small square that looks like a bar code. URL links, phone numbers, music and maps can be embedded into the QR code and read with a QR Code scanner on smartphones and tablets with a built in camera.
