Writing a Business Plan

A business plan helps you organize your thinking so you can plot out your objectives, operations procedures, location, equipment needs and capital, and market strategy. It is a document used by you and by others.

Taking the time to write a business plan makes you critically look at all aspects of your business. You'll be able to identify problems that you may not have thought of, find weaknesses you can strengthen by planning ahead, and find strengths you can capitalize upon to meet or your goals.

The finished business plan is also a way to communicate with others - especially if you are seeking financing. A well-written plan will have all the information to serve as a financial proposal.

Not all plans are alike. Yours must be tailored to your specific company. With that in mind, we have provided basic research information, as well as the elements contained in most business plans.
