Event Description

In contrast to New York School artists like Pollock, Andy Warhol responded to American popular culture and produced work inspired by the slickness of commercial advertising. Art historian Jeff Mishur presents this survey of Warhol's career. In this slide lecture, learn how one of Manhattan's hottest graphic designers became America's first celebrity artist. The lecture is one hour with additional time for Q&A.

Jeff Mishur is co-owner of Art Excursions, who provide private guiding in Chicago, lectures, and cultural tours. A popular speaker about art historical and travel topics, Mishur has his M.A. in Art History from Northern Illinois University and has taught at the university level for many years.

This program is part of the Art 101 series.
