Fairy Tale at AHML

Once Upon a Time: Exploring the World of Fairy Tales

January 16 - March 26, 2016

This interactive play exhibit was created by The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum in partnership with the St. Louis Public Library and has been featured in museums and libraries throughout the country. Through the larger-than-life pages of seven multi-cultural fairy tales, it fostered a love of reading, books and storytelling in children and their families. Visitors explored the jungle from Anansi and the Talking Melon, set the beast's banquet table while dressing up as characters from Beauty and the Beast, rode in Cinderella's coach, slid down into the ogre's lair from Jack and the Beanstalk, assembled pairs of boots and shoes at The Elves and the Shoemaker and more. The exhibit opened with an after-hours Fairy Tale & Fantasy Gala in which more than 600 community members joined staff in costumes to kick off a very fairy tale winter at AHML. The exhibit was generously supported by the Friends of the Library.
