This book uses Watercolour paintings to illustrate all 157 types of steam locomotives used on State Government Railways around Australia during the years 1855 to 1895 including details of all goods, passenger and shunting locomotives in service. The name of their builder and where they were built, their length of time in service as well which lines they were used on and then if they were sold for private use. Details of all known preserved locomotives and the locations where they may be seen are also included along with a bibliography and a history of each individual locomotive
