After the dreaded zombie ant fungus has wiped out most of humanity, the survivors, who have immunity to the fungus, gather food and weapons and head into the Amazon jungle where the sickness had its origin. They search for and find the fabled Lost City of Z and begin to create a new empire in the ancient kingdom. It is there that the indigenous peoples of the jungle confront the new arrivals who have come to take what they could not create. The future of the world depends on the outcome of this confrontation between technology and the natural world
