NOTES

Ignoring chronological denouement, the Cortland, NY native takes the reader on a hopscotch jour&#x00AC%x;ney through his life. One minute you're with him at 4 years old in kindergarten in 1936, dealing with a frustrated little nun. A few pages later, you're with him on a hair-raising patrol in North Korea in 1953. Then, you're setting pins with him in a bowling alley in 1940. In 1942, you witness his awakening to sex at the old swimming hole in the Tioughnioga River. Then back to Korea where the groundwork for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder was being stored in his 20-year old brain as he was buried alive in a bun&#x00AC%x;ker under enemy fire. Shards later, you're with him in St. Mary's High School as he deals with two nuns bent on ignoring their vows of chastity, and so on, through marriage, six children, retirement and life after divorce in 2000
