NOTES

This book is aimed at authors, designers, web editors and other document producers who need to design and build accessible PDF data tables, or to fix existing inaccessible ones for publication online. The book devotes three chapters to getting table design and layout right at source and just one (albeit a long one) on fixing inaccessible tables retrospectively. Chapter one covers basic table tag structure and the pros and cons of various source document software packages. Chapter two looks at design and layout whilst chapter three looks at various content-related issues. Chapter four alone is devoted to techniques for fixing tables retrospectively in Acrobat, including advanced tagging techniques. Lastly, an appendix provides a brief overview of the different capabilities of some of the more commonly used screen readers, screen reader versions, and other assistive technologies to read PDF-based tables effectively
