In America's political lexicon, republicanism and democracy have become synonymous. On the contrary, they are different. Very different. Paul Gentry explores the relationship of each ideology with Christianity and with America's founding and progress. Gentry examines the role republicanism played in shaping America's social and political institutions, and contrasts it to the impact democracy has had on them. In recent history, American Christians have expressed alarm at public policy that seems tailored to the abridgement of their freedom to worship and to the harassment of their church.
