NOTES

Read by Joe Loizzo

This beginning course teaches the theory and practice of stress-reduction and self-healing based on the Indo-Tibetan tradition of mind/body medicine and positive psychology. In the first four classes, Dr. Loizzo explains the four noble truth framework of Buddhist meditative science in terms of the current mind/body science of stress reduction, self-healing and learning. As practice, the first month introduces the four-fold skill-set of deep mindfulness, a mind-and-heart opening practice that starts with the breath, and gradually expands its scope to calm, clarify and heal the body; sensation, mind and all experience. The second month introduces the fourfold skill-set of mind-clearing and the sevenfold skill-set of visualization, the intermediate and advanced self-healing arts that reset post-traumatic perception and use positive images of being in the world to guide lifestyle change. The course focuses on developing the essential knowledge, motivation and skills it takes to build and maintain a basic practice with the power to sustain lifelong self-healing, learning and change
