A world, a colony, far removed in time and space from Earth, but closer than anyone realizes. Grady hunts for clones to protect them from extermination by their makers. In doing so he discovers a colony that appears to defy the rules, and are under imminent threat of genocide. The corporations want the planet for themselves and will go to war with the Empire to keep it. Grady has to save the colony without getting himself killed in the process. To do that he needs to come clean about his own past. Which threatens to get him executed without a trial by his own side
