NOTES
The goal of this ebook is to present an engineering basis for the planning, designing and installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems. The book is intended to encourage potential owners and installers to understand the parameters that may either make a PV system operate optimally or inefficiently. Rather, it is extended to provide a comprehensive basis for planning, designing and installing PV systems so that installers, architects, engineers, investors and home-owners can understand the what, why and how that are associated with the electrical, mechanical, and economic aspects of solar electricity. The what question is addressed in the first two chapters, which present a near-chronology of the invention. Then some mathematical background for understanding the conversion of sunlight to electricity and how to optimise the capture of solar energy were discussed. The why question deals with the task of explaining why certain PV designs are done in certain ways for different locations. It also presents a relatively quick exposure to all the building blocks of PV system followed by design. The how question deals with how the design process is implemented.I have tried to source the information from few PV systems already, market survey and library to present the material in a manner sufficiently comprehensive that it will serve many stakeholders as a useful reference book. This book contains information obtained from authentic and highly regarded sources. Reasonable efforts have been made to publish reliable data and information, but the author and publisher cannot assume responsibility for the validity of all materials or the consequences of their use
