However, by pursuing her Marking she suffers at the hand of betrayal and the powers of darkness. Overwhelming grief opens the chasm of destruction within her as her life crumbles apart. She surrenders herself to become someone she never thought possible: Markless. The powers of darkness become her puppeteer. Like a ship without a rudder, she is aimless. With her unremovable calling still branded across her chest, who is she when she has failed in her life's purpose? A white-washed tomb? An open-mouthed grave? Who is she outside of her once devout pursuit of purpose-outside of her Marking?
