NOTES

A glowing image appeared before a Navajo sister and brother. It left behind a mysterious necklace before ascending into the sky. This amulet was a gift that clearly had supernatural powers. Eventually their father discovered that the children were delving into magical powers that they knew nothing about and he tossed it into the nearby river. Over one hundred years later that very same garnet necklace was found by a young teenage boy, Marc Macione, while scavenging an old dump yard with his father, near the Gila River. His father's life was slipping down and out after the loss of his wife. Heavy drinking was alienating him from his only son. Marc was hoping to help relieve his father of his affliction. The necklace became an amulet of hope for Marc when he discovered its magical powers. Marc and his best friend Joey Desch were often bullied at school. They desperately needed to find a way to protect themselves from the havoc the tormentors had placed on them. They used the powers of the talisman to help thwart this barrage of bullying. Joey had his own struggles to deal with, mainly his failing grades. The only way he could pass to the next grade is to turn in an assignment that will surprise even his teacher. Marc and Joey came up with a plan to try and save him from failing. They made a wish that entailed taking a faraway journey to Katmandu, near the Himalayan Mountains. Their wish turned into an adventure that put their lives at risk. Be careful what you wish for
