NOTES

I have entitled the book EA after essential spirit of Hawaii, said by some to be the great white spirit of the islands, white because it inspires and embraces all the hues of the land and its peoples since the islands arose from the seas. Everyone who is born in or sets foot in the islands is impressed by EA. They are all tourists in the sense that our sojourn on this earth as individuals and as a race is momentary. I lived on Oahu and Big Island for several years on three different occassions, from 1970 to 2004. Hawaii was the only place I ever felt at home although I was a "haole." I always regretted leaving, but I thought I could come back at any time. EA calls me home now from the American continent. I am not so sure I can make it before I depart from this plane of existence. I hope so, and so do many others. This book is for them. They have their stories too. Listen. and remember, if you love Hawaii, never, ever leave
