Jane and Sarah team up to help each other through the challenges they will face as unwed mothers. They had both been assaulted by their boyfriends. Sarah was homeless so she went into a Women's Shelter while Jane, a minor, went back to her mother's home. Her mother had kicked Jane out of the house a year before. Jane also has to listen to her mother's constant demand that she should give her baby away. Jane sends for a birth certificate but when it is returned saying that there is no record of a Helen Evans giving birth to Jane. The search for her birth certificate leads them to a secret so big that people had committed murder to keep it secret and almost killed Jane and her baby.
