Carmen has always wanted something for herself. An avid believer in signs, she returns from a vacation to find her entire world in Miami turned upside down. The lifestyle she'd been working toward was now gone, and she completely missed the signs. Humiliated once again, and certain she's past her prime, she settles for her new reality when an envelope arrives containing documents of inheritance in New Cuba, along with a set of keys. Years have passed since the campaign for the Humanitarian Liberation of Cuba took place. The once oppressed and impoverished country, renamed New Cuba, is now a thriving U. S. state. Though there are a positive changes, certain aspects of the island go unpublicized, and many fear the truths hidden behind the sparkling promises advertised in the media.
