In the months following Theodore Shaw's return to England after his service in France during the war, his family life had changed dramatically. With three of his older siblings already dead and his oldest sister receiving a terminal diagnosis that she had kept secret from practically everyone but him, he was set to experience a lot more responsibility than he had ever planned. But he knew that he wasn't ready to face the responsibility of a rapidly expanding business, his younger siblings, and an assortment of young children who weren't his own.
