NOTES

More than 350,000 people walk the Camino de Santiago's various historic pilgrimage routes every year: pilgrims whether religiously or spiritually motivated, or pursuing adventure, health, exploration, good food, friendship. The poems in Walking the Camino Portuguese are intensely personal in their unfolding of one pilgrim's challenges and joys walking the hallowed Way from Lisbon, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. About the author - Rand Engel directed Balkan Sunflowers, a humanitarian program in Kosovo, 1999-2015. His investigative articles have been published (long ago) in the Boston Globe, Baltimore Sun, New York Times/International Herald Tribune, and in Kosovo publications Koha Ditore and Balkan Insight. Seventeen mostly long-form political articles can be read at https://rantt.com/author/rand_engel. When not perambulating, Rand lives at Aikido in Fredericksburg in Virginia. He holds the rank of Sandan in Aikido
