Friends, Enemies and Lovers traces the bizarre journey of the two POWs as they move around the country, trying to adjust to a new culture. Edgardo was a master of escaping and was at one time the most wanted man in Australia. Angelo found love, and settled into life in his new country. This is a tale about overcoming mental and physical challenges, of racism and redemption. It is the story of the search for identity in a new country. Some of the events are unbelievable, but I have included them because they are all true. It tells of a different era in Australia: a war seen through different eyes
