Hello, I am Lan Main. An American Tragedy takes you on a journey of joy, heartache, confusion, murder, and death. The book itself was written in a few months, but it contains work that spreads out from multiple years. Some poems featured were written as young as I was 13. The motive of the book is sewed together in a flow-like state of expression. While this is my work, it was barely "hard" work and these poems were written at first without any intention of publication. Many of the words in this book were just late night ideas that made it hard to sleep, things that haunt me. What you read is my sight, my feelings, my figures, seen injustices, stitched together philosophies, and world views. I'd like to consider myself positive, but I cannot deny most not all of these poems contain sadness and melancholy. Most of it is from personal experience, but mixed in it all are stories of the past and now that aren't mine, yet bother me no less. In order to truly appreciate the wonder of life you must soak in and filter disgusting deprived corners of humanity in order to cleanse them with your sponge heart. What is untalked of, continues. Remember, it is a slippery privilege to even talk of such things. This book of poetry is to honor love, and honor the dead. I hope it touches your soul and reminds you to live a life to respect and help others
