The dragon-flies of Timbalaya (more dragon than fly) have gone missing. Without them, Spangle Stargazer doesnt know where to look or what to do, and the safety of his sweet, leafy home is at risk. Theres only one kind of Timbalayan that can be trusted to bring the dragon-flies back: a dragon-fly whisperer. But there are no whisperers in Timbalaya any more; the whisperers are barely even legend. They exist in books and rumors. Can Spangle recruit and train a new band of whisperers, in time to save his world from falling into chaos? Can he do it without anyone noticing? Buzz, a youngling with a knack for pretending, is one of these lucky chosen novices. He must overcome his fear of the dark (and escape the watchful eye of his mother) for long enough to learn the dragon-flies way, and somehow bring them home
