The Survey Corps employs specialized gear to combat Titans. The manga was serialized from 2009 to 2021, and has been adapted into anime, live-action films, video games and other media. It is known for its dark fantasy and post-apocalyptic themes and has been a critical and commercial success. CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES: The manga series *Attack on Titan* was written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama and serialized in Bessatsu Shnen Magazine from September 2009 to April 2021. The military uses Vertical Maneuvering Equipment (VME), also called Omni-Directional Maneuvering Gear (ODM Gear) which is a set of waist-mounted grappling hooks and gas-powered propulsion to fight the Titans. They also use ultrahard steel swords and rocket launcher-like weapons called Thunder Spears
