NOTES

"Little Bob grew up on the sunny, Caribbean Island of Jamaica. Born to a Black mother and white father, life could be difficult, and he was often bullied for the colour of his skin. But Bob didn't let others' unkindness harden his heart, instead he dreamed of a world where everyone felt they belonged. At twelve years old, he moved to Kingston and fell in love with ska--a style of popular music indigenous to Jamaica. Over the next few years he wrote songs, took singing lessons and played as much as he could with his newly formed band, Bob Marley and the Wailers. A year after their first hit single, Bob was introduced to Rastafari, a Jamaican religion and political movement. Driven to spread Rastafari beliefs, Bob and his band began to create Reggae, using their lyrics and melodies to fight for social justice and advocate for peace. Before long, his songs were spreading a message of unity across the world."
