A serial rapist stalks unsuspecting women in the streets of London, finds when they are most vulnerable and strikes in the dead of night. He plots his attacks meticulously, drugs his victims to subdue them and leaves nothing behind that could link him to his crimes. Named Incubus by the tabloids for his seemingly demonic deeds, he evades capture with impunity. John and Mandy, forensic scientists and co-directors of their fledgling laboratory, are striving to attract more clients, cope with precarious finances and build up their reputation. Called in to assist by DI Charlie Parsons, they become closely involved in the hunt for the rapist. Like the police, they are hampered by a lack of clues and trace evidence until a nightmare event breaks the deadlock but leaves them exposed to danger. The looming threat releases their pent-up feelings for each other in a way neither could have predicted and together they face up to an evil monster who could attack any time or anywhere.
