Book Preview: #1 On April 12, 2013, I was working at a radio station when I heard about a possible shooter on the campus of a university in North Carolina. I was terrified, but I thought about how my wedding was only a few weeks away, and I couldn't wait. #2 I was working at a community college in Virginia when I heard a gunshot. I ducked underneath my desk, and saw blood dripping onto the floor. I didn't know whose blood it was. #3 I was shot in the left hand, and as I slipped my engagement ring off and put it in my pocket, I knew I was hurt. I was trapped in a room with a door that I couldn't lock, and a man with a gun stood on the other side. I prayed to die quickly. #4 I was in a closet with my back against the door, terrified. I was wounded and bleeding, and I didn't know if anyone was hurt or not. I heard voices, and thought it was a good sign
