They may be delusional, thinking, for example, that they are having relationships with famous people. #3 Manic episodes are diagnosed if elevated mood occurs with three or more of these symptoms most of the day, nearly every day, for one week or longer. #4 A depressive is diagnosed if five or more of these symptoms last most of the day, nearly every day, for a period of two weeks or longer
