The U.S. military reported after the fact that "On August 9, 1945, the initial target of the nuclear attack was Kokura, but clouds over the target made it impossible to visually sight the target, so we were forced to drop a nuclear bomb on a second target, Nagasaki." Most Japanese people believe this story.
