Peter Venn, Alfred Bama

They are the rarest species of apes in the world: Cross River gorillas live in the border region between Nigeria and Cameroon. But little is known about their lifestyle, and they have never before been filmed in the wild. Animal keeper Alfred Bama is both father and friend to orphaned gorillas. In the Limbe Wildlife Centre, in south-western Cameroon, he cares lovingly for gorillas whose mothers have been killed. Nyango is Bama's favourite; he has raised her since she was a baby. The film accompanies Bama on a very special mission as he sets out to find Nyango's family, to protect them before it's too late
