O3DE is an open source, large scale 3D, game, and, simulation engine. With over 2 million lines of code, it is not easy to discover all the great features and technical elements. This guide is intended to help software engineers and programmers navigate the most commonly used and necessary functionality to extend, improve or use O3DE for games, simulations, film, and other interactive media. Luis Sempé has had the privilege of developing AAA games professionallyas a software engineer for over a decade. His passion for gamedevelopment has driven him to develop expertise in many disciplines.During his career he has developed systems and features in 3D graphics,created gameplay features and authoring tools, developed artificialintelligence systems to simulate flight combat and character behaviors,developed user interface systems for many games and integrated,supported and extended user interface middleware. He has also developedsystems for video streaming, localization, and general game engine andtools.User interface development has been a staple of his career, designing andimplementing user interface systems for Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault,Army of Two and in particular, the critically acclaimed Deus Ex HumanRevolution.In the June/July 2010 issue of Game Developer Magazine he shared hisdesign for the technology that drives the conversation system andcharacter social interactions in Deus Ex Human Revolution in the articleMachina Ex - Creating a State-driven gameplay system for Deus Ex: HumanRevolution.When he is not developing games professionally he is researching andprototyping game features in C++, XNA, Unity and any new technologiesthat seem interesting. He has a deep appreciation for independent andhobbyist games and sometimes participates in the indie games communitydiscussions
