Jason Walker, a recent addition to Manhattan's prestigious Dwayne Whitewood High, is just your ordinary, mild-mannered high school junior. His new friends at this school ... aren't so ordinary. They belong to a secret society of ghost hunters called the Moderators. Their duties are to keep the peace and moderate the conflicts between the Living and the Dead, hence their name. One night, Jason stumbles upon one of the gruesome creatures of the dead and unwittingly awakens these powers in himself. Now Jason must join the Spirit Society and fight a dangerous enemy of the Moderators called Shadow Monsters. Will Jason be able to step up to the challenge, or is he just too fragile for this new world he has stumbled upon?
