When humans invade the planet Regnum, they enslave a magical, human-like species known as the Regnumians. Each year, the best and brightest Regnumians who are coming of age compete in a pageant to demonstrate their abilities. With trials to test their physical strength, magical talent, and intelligence, the candidates can earn points to prove to the leaders their value. At the end of the week, each Regnumian is either sold to one of the five capitals or sent to work guarding prisons.At the one-hundredth anniversary of the Electus, Conscientia Trumble, or Tia as she prefers to be called, is selected to participate.
