REGRETS

ADVICE

CONFESSIONS

Share your regrets, advice, and confessions in our handmade books on the first floor of the library!

The books and their pedestals are part of the Everything on Wheels project, a set of interactive book stations located throughout Chicagoland, created by North Branch Projects. Artist Regin Igloria created this set of pedestals and books by hand.

About the Artist:

Regin Igloria is a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in Chicago. He received his MFA from Rhode Island School of Design.  His drawings, artists’ books, sculptures, and performances portray the human condition as it relates to the natural environment and inhabited spaces. With several years of arts administration and teaching experience, he founded North Branch Projects, an organization that builds connections through the book arts.

Wind Phone

Let the wind take your words. A wind phone is a symbolic, disconnected phone booth designed for one-way conversations with deceased loved ones. The phone is usually placed in a semi-private, natural setting and is unable to make calls. Instead, it provides a space for individuals to speak their thoughts and feelings, with the belief that their words are carried away on the wind to reach their loved ones. Wind phones serve as a tool for grieving, allowing people to express sentiments and messages they may not have had the chance to convey before.

Find the phone near the library's Butterfly Garden on Dunton ave.

Ofrenda

Coming mid-October! Visit the first floor of the library to see an Ofrenda designed by a local artist.

Display Case Collections

In September, visit our display cases to view assorted objects and curiosities from the personal collections of library staff. These displays are inspired by The Collected Regrets of Clover which features a collection of obscure and eclectic items curated by Clover’s grandfather. The library's display cases are located on the first floor, inside the Dunton Avenue entrance, and on the second floor near the Hendrickson Room.
