Event Description

In 1962, tough guy Frank "Tony Lip" Vallelonga works as a driver for Black classical pianist Don Shirley for a concert tour in the Deep South. Despite tension between them, they begin their trek armed with "The Negro Motorist Green Book," a guide for safe travel in the segregated South. They have clashing attitudes and ideals but, as they witness and endure injustices on the road, they find a newfound respect for each other. In doing so, they nurture an understanding and a friendship that would change both their lives.
