Event Description

Did you know First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights becomes a PADS site on Tuesdays during the cold season? They provide meals and shelter for approximately 25-30 individuals a week who are at risk and experiencing homelessness. We invite you to a special Day of Service honoring Martin Luther King Jr. and helping our neighbors being served by PADS.

Join us in our Makerplace Kitchen to work with library staff and your neighbors to prepare a nourishing lunch which will serve PADS. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: Only love can do that.” Let's spread light and love by making meals together while serving this great local cause.

This event is designed for attendees ages 12+. Space is limited; We ask that you limit your registration to two members per family/household. Service hours will be recorded upon request.

The Makerplace kitchen is not a nut-free, gluten-free, or other allergy free environment. If you have food allergies you'd like to make us aware of, please email programs@ahml.info by Thursday, January 12 so we can work to accommodate.

Makerplace Kitchen Waivers are required to participate in all events in the commercial kitchen. Please print and sign a copy to bring with you or we will have copies to fill out and sign on site.
