Event Description

Learn about a bizarre and nearly forgotten local economy of margarine sold to Wisconsinites during its prohibition the 1970s. From it’s wartime popularization to a capitol building scandal, learn about the history of margarine that populated Lake and McHenry County booming with illicit “oleo huts.” Presented by Arlington Heights Memorial Library's Genealogy & Local History Librarian, Eddie Kristan.
