Event Description

Join Art Historian Dr. Michelle Mishur for a beautiful slide lecture exploring patriotic themes, symbols, and subjects. Get to know a variety of paintings that inspire feelings of patriotism. She'll discuss images of George Washington, the American flag, American landscapes, and other subjects within their historic context. The lecture is one hour with additional time for Q&A.

Dr. Michelle Mishur is co-owner of Art Excursions who provides art guiding, lectures and cultural tours. She holds a Ph.D. in art history and is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships. Mishur is a member of the Illinois Humanities Council's Road Scholars Speakers Bureau and has taught Art History and Art Appreciation at the university level for more than ten years.
