Youth Services staff are available to supplement your classroom instruction or find ways to engage students in the library. Contact the library for more information at 847-392-0100 or youthoutreach@ahml.info. 

Educator Library Cards 

The library has intergovernmental agreements with local schools for access to an Arlington Heights Memorial Library educator card. Check with your school to see if you qualify.

Request Library Materials

The library's resource bag service allows community educators to request materials to use in their classroom for a 6-week checkout. Educators can request specific items from the library or request library staff select a variety of items on a theme or subject. Items in the bags can include books, media, educational toys or guides to any relevant digital resources.

The library also has a collection of book discussion sets for educators to use that includes fiction, graphic novels and nonfiction titles. Sets contain 5 copies of a title and check out for 6 weeks, and educators can check out multiple sets at a time. Book discussion requests are also made through the resource bag form.

  • Preschool bags are picked up and delivered to schools on Wednesdays by the library’s delivery service
  • District 25 bags are picked up from the library on Wednesdays by the District 25 van
  • Districts 21, 59 and private school bags are picked up and delivered to schools on Wednesdays by the library’s delivery service
  • District 214 bags are picked up at the library daily Monday through Friday by the District 214 van

Schedule a School Visit

Visits with the library are tailored to your needs. Take a tour of library spaces, jumpstart a research project, explore the collection, enjoy a storytime and more.

The library can also bring the resources to you! We can provide book talks, storytimes, database demonstrations and more. You can also request a visit from the bookmobile, schedule permitting. Staff are also available for parent/teacher nights, literacy nights, STEM nights and other special events.
